In August 2026, I will begin a new role as tenure-track Assistant Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma.

Currently, I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Sociology at the University of Minnesota, where I hold a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, defending May 2026.

I am a cultural sociologist who researches the media industries, particularly the cultural production of knowledge in the digital age. I work across disciplinary boundaries, including sociology, communications, and film and media studies. My current research examines the impact of platformization on the U.S. documentary film industry.

My research interests include cultural sociology, media industries, critical technology studies, media ethics, and documentary film.

I am also an award-winning documentary producer and director, with work on HBO, PBS, Al Jazeera, and other outlets worldwide. Recent work has been recognized by the Library of Congress, Critics Choice Awards, International Documentary Association, News & Documentary Emmy Awards, and others.
